Connect your Facebook account and take a minute to answer the three questions below.
One really nice thing about Facebook is the number of ways in which you can express your interests. Stories you share, like, and comment on give us hints about what you care about. Other signals include groups, interests, and page likes (*). That's a lot of information. We've also found that different aspects of a person's topical interests can manifest themselves in different parts of a user's profile. For instance, one user I know almost exclusively shares politics articles, and if we made topic suggestions from his articles shared they would all be politics and he wouldn't be very happy. If you look at his groups however, you will see totally different types of interests - Burning Man, music, and design. So, it's important to look at various aspects of a person's profile if you want to make well-rounded topic recommendations. We can compute topic signatures from all these sources of information to figure which you interact with on a regular basis.
